Henry will serve on Oxford Borough Planning Commission

Oxford Mayor Geoff Henry is joining the borough's planning commission.

At Monday night's meeting, Oxford Borough Council appointed Henry to serve on the planning commission, a position he previously held for four years some time ago.

Henry and one borough resident expressed interest in the vacancy. Council voted 4-2 in favor of having Henry fill the seat. It is not a conflict to have him serve as both mayor and as a member of the planning commission. As mayor, his duties chiefly revolve around overseeing the police department.

Council member Randy Teel said that he simply thought that it was a better idea to have another citizen serve on the planning commission rather than have the mayor perform another duty for the borough.

“I’d like to see as many citizens as possible involved,” said Teel.

Henry was also reappointed to the Oxford Area Recreation Authority Board. The board oversees the Oxford Regional Park.

Following up on a recommendation by the borough's planning commission and a decision by the Zoning Hearing Board, Oxford Borough Council granted approval to the UGI Central Penn Gas final land-development plan.
