Southern Chester County Connections: Celebrating southern Chester County’s wine scene

At Paradocx Vineyard, every sip and every glass of wine tells a little about the winery in Landenberg.

Paradocx Vineyard was at the forefront of Chester County’s wine scene when it debuted more than 25 years ago. In this edition of Southern Chester County Chamber of Commerce’s Connections, we celebrate southern Chester County’s wine scene with stories about Paradox, the Acadian Wine Company, Harvest Ridge Winery, 1723 Vineyards, and Casa Carmen.

These wineries have all earned acclaim for their award-winning wines, and they also offer fun experiences with food, live music, and the opportunity for camaraderie and culture.

At the Acadian Wine Company,  winemaker Kyle Jones has successfully balanced the art of making wine with playing host at what has become one of the coolest and most delicious places to visit in southern Chester County.

Anyone looking for an enjoyable wine tasting experience located off the beaten track can find it in the small village of Toughkenamon, New Garden Township, at the Harvest Ridge Winery, which offers a wide variety of wines from local grapes as well as entertainment, tastings,

space rentals, demonstrations, a wine club and attention to individual preferences.

At 1723 Vineyards in Landenberg, Ben and Sarah Cody, both fifth-generation farmers, utilize their midwestern agricultural roots to emphasize that wine doesn’t need to be intimidating to be good.

the bucolic farm of Casa Carmen, three generations of families work together to bring the vision of the vineyard and the tasting room to life.

We’re pleased to celebrate these wineries on the pages that follow. In this issue, we also introduce you to a few of the members of the Southern Chester County Chamber of Commerce that have particularly interesting stories. DuVall Bus Service has been a fixture in the community for eight decades, and the company’s school buses have been safely and dependably transporting students for generations. Like DuVall Bus Service, Lester Water Inc. has a long history in the community. Lester Water is beginning its 74th year serving residents in Chester County and the surrounding region. The company specializes in installing and servicing water treatment equipment in homes that are served by wells or municipal water, and anyone who would like to improve the quality of the water in their home. We also have a story about the YMCA of Greater Brandywine’s new Fit Truk, a fully equipped wellness hub on wheels. The Fit Truk will help expand access to health and fitness offerings across Chester County, just one of the many ways that Southern Chester County Chamber of Commerce members are making a difference.
