Brandywine Baptist Church celebrates 325th Anniversary
Baptist historian, leaders in religious freedom to speak
Brandywine Baptist Church will hold two special services on Sunday Oct. 8 to commemorate its 325th anniversary. A 10:30 a.m. service will reflect the type of service from the church’s earliest days. It is the oldest continuing Baptist Church west of Philadelphia.
In the morning, the Special guest speaker is Terry Wolever, nationally known Baptist historian, author and editor of The Particular Baptist Press, a Missouri non-profit organization. Rodney Arment will lead the congregation in acapella hymns and special music will be provided by acclaimed mezzo soprano Charlotte Daw Paulsen, who will sing Vivaldi’s “Gloria in D Major."
The afternoon service at 2 p.m. will feature guest Larry Denver, president of the Faith and Freedom Coalition Pennsylvania, speaking on the future of religious liberty in America, and Michael Geer, president of the Pennsylvania Family Institute. The church’s Brandywine Praise Ensemble and Charlotte Daw Paulsen will perform.
The public is invited to both services.
Church history will be illustrated in a visual timeline with dozens of historical photos and documents, including the church’s first property deed from 1719. A trivet, with a picture of the church, will be sold to raise money for the church and its works.
